Beautiful Finishes

Not only the railings but the turns, skirts, and risers on this staircase were all lightly stained pickled oak. The turns, skirts and risers were sanded, primed and spray coated with a semi-gloss enamel. The railings were re-finished: the existing stain, stripped away down to the bare wood. The new stain was matched to the existing floor stain, not the easiest thing to do. Multiple coats of sanding sealer were applied, and the railings finish sanded for smoothness. Multiple coats of high-gloss clear lacquer were then applied for the finish coat.
